MILITARY ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RUSSIA AND
EURASIA
Edited by David R. Jones
With Volume 5 The Military-Naval Encyclopedia of Russia & the Soviet
Union changes title to Military Encyclopedia of Russia and Eurasia (MERE).
The new title reflects the demise of the USSR and expansion of coverage
of military-related developments to the new states emerging on Soviet ashes.
The premises of MERE are that military developments in this immense area
will not suddenly end and very likely will increase dangerously, and that
it is more vital than ever to have authoritative reference-type information
at hand to understand and deal with them.
"There is no area of greater
importance to American interests and security at this time than the vast
multi-ethnic territory encompassed by the former Soviet Union."-Ambassador
James Collins, 28 October 1995. MERE possess the breadth,
depth and authoritative scholarly contributions to meet the study and research
needs of your students, faculty and other patrons. There is nothing like
MERE anywhere. Many entries give information unavailable in any other work
or language including Russian. Much technical, scientific, cultural, diplomatic,
economic, and administrative information is included. $41 per volume.
Volumes 1-7 contain more than 440 entries in 1792 pages.
